Valeska was fined $1000 for a violation in the Alabama code. Valeska apparently used assistant district attorneys as his personal concierges to campagin for him and also do personal work. Alabama law states public interests cannot be converted to personal interests.
Andrew Robinson, a former Assistant District Attorney who worked in Valeska’s office reported that felt pressured to campaign for Valeska. Robinson said his campaign work consisted of digging holes for campaign signs, among other tasks that took place after long work days. He also claims to have been told to do personal work on several occasions, including helping move Valeska’s son’s belongings from Tuscaloosa, cutting down three trees in Valeska’s daughter’s yard and performing several other personal errands for Valeska or family members.
